Personal

Born - November 3, 1956

in Los Angeles, California.
Married 16 years (to Kim).

4 Children (Daniel, Jacob, Rebekah, & Carissa).
8 Grand-children (Daniel Jr., Madelynn, Joseph,

Anthony, Sofia, Rocky, Claire, & Nolan).

Music Education and Experience

Purchased a used Alto Sax for $150 in the Spring of 1968-Started Band (6th Grade).
Alhambra High School Class of '74 - High School Band Drum Major Lead a 12 piece Dixieland Band called "The Dan Barilone Trash Can Band."

School Sports: Cross Country, Track, Basketball, & Baseball.
Graduate of U.S. Army 'School of Music' Naval Amphibious Base, Norfolk, Virginia - June of 1975.
Specialist 5(E-5)U.S. Army Band - 7th Infantry Division Band, Fort Ord, Calif. - 1975-77.
Attended Mt. San Antonio College (1980-1982) and CSU Los Angeles (1983).

B.A. Liberal Studies - California Baptist University - 2000. Single Subject Teaching Credential in MUSIC -

CSU San Bernardino - 2004.
Toured as a Saxophonist with 'The Continental Brass & Singers' Summer of 1980.
Performed on the Mt. SAC Jazz Ensemble Album "Lizard Power" (March-81) and The Ashley Alexander Big Band Album "Alexander Plays Mantooth" (November-81).
Church Music Director for 22 years.
Completed 21 years in BUSD - Barstow Middle (9), Barstow Jr. High (11), and Barstow High School (1).

2004 Guest Conductor/Clinician of the San Bernardino County Desert Honor Band 2002.
SBCMEA Jr. High Desert Honor Band Representative

(2004-2006).
Barstow Unified School District's 2011 'Teacher of the Year.'
Published by KJOS Music Publishers and Walrus Music Publishers.

PERFORMANCE ENSEMBLES

Wind Ensemble - The #1 Symphonic/Concert Ensemble: Performs at various concerts throughout the Spring Sememster.

Concert Band - The #2 Symphonic/Concert Ensemble: Focusing on higher level fundamentals in preparation for acceptance into Wind Ensemble.

Varsity Band (2016-17) - The #3 Concert Ensemble: Focusing on fundamentals not yet attained for placement in Concert Band.

Aztec Marching Band: This ensemble is the Joint effort of Wind Ensemble and Concert Band Musicians.

Aztec Chorus: Our only choral class and is opened to students wishing to sing in an ensemble setting.

Jazztecs - The #1 Jazz Ensemble: Concentration in Jazz literature focusing on Improvisation - Performs throughout Spring Semester and is the Host of the guest artist concert, "ATOMIC JAZZ".

Jazz Ensemble - The #2 Jazz Ensemble: Focusing on developing stronger improvisation and ensemble skills and participates in "ATOMIC JAZZ".
